Mr. Mike Willis,
Thank you for your inquiry regarding the proposed bicycle path between Fairway Drive and FBE. When this project was initially discussed the Engineering Department and Foley Public Works Department informed Mr. David Vosloh that it would likely be August or September before the Public Works Department could be fully underway with the project because of the number of projects that had already been scheduled for Public Works to complete over the summer.
Advertising for a concrete contractor will begin this week. Our plan is for the Public Works Department to rough grade the site and to provide select-backfill for the contractor. The contractor will be responsible for placement of the select-backfill, fine grading , compacting the sub grade, setting forms, pouring and finishing the concrete, installation of expansion joints and construction joints, removal of the forms, clean up, dress up and final grading after the forms have been removed. The City will direct purchase the concrete for the job based upon delivery ticket, which will eliminate all sales tax.
As you are aware, the Public Works Department installed the storm drains at the beginning of the summer. I anticipate the project to be physically underway within a couple of weeks.
Should you have additional questions, feel free to contact me.
Thank you.
