Jerry, can you put something on the web-site for my daughter, Kimberly?
She is a school teacher at Orange Beach Elementary and is trying to get coupons out of the paper on Wednesdays and Sundays. A couple of our neighbors were nice enough to give us theirs today, but if others in the neighborhood could donate their coupons it would be a BIG help. She needs all the help she can get as a teacher and uses so much of her own money to buy supplies for her class. This would help her reduce the cost as well as share coupons with other teachers at her school. Anyone wishing to donate their coupons can just drop them at our house (9230 Lakeview Drive), drop them in the mailbox or call me (955-1999) and I'll be happy to come pick them up. School is about to start back up and they need all the help they can get. Thanks.
Ed (Treasurer of Lakeview Estates POA)

Please check out the entranceway at Eagle Ln & Co Rd 12. Look at the new brick and flower beds being completed. Fred Blake and Jerry DuBose put in the new brick and will complete the project next week. Lowes ran out of cap brick and Fred & Jerry ran out of steam! Two old men and too hot weather!!!
Anyone wishing to help finish this side and the other side can contact Jerry at jgdubose@gulftel.com . We plan on putting three brick high in the front and two brick high in the back of the beds. Once Eagle Ln & Co Rd 12 are completed, we will complete Fairway Dr & Co Rd 12. If you like the way it looks or not, please let a Board member know!!! Thanks

A “Special Thanks” goes to Fred Blake for his help! On Monday morning at 6:00 am Fred was at the entranceway of Eagle & 12 getting it ready for the sprinklers system. He worked until 10:00 am. On Tuesday morning at 6:00 a.m. Fred was there finishing the job and completed it at 9:00 a.m.
Lakeview Estates had received bids of around $1,500 to put in the water sprinkler system on both sides of Eagle Ln. With Fred doing the planning, buying the supplies and work it only cost Lakeview Estates POA $242.78 to have the job done. This was working 7 hours in the hot sun without anything but someone giving Fred a little free cold water. Thanks to Fred the beds are ready for flowers now.
Fred lives at the corner of Fairway Dr & Co Rd 12. He and his wife (Lora Lea) volunteer to keep the flower beds free of weeds, etc. at Fairway & Co Rd 12. The entranceways there are really looking great. If you want to e-mail Fred and say “Thanks” click here: yayas3@gulftel.com

Dan Barberi told Laurie Strite about a class action suit against lawn mower manufacturers because they have overstated the HP of the engines in the mower. Anyone who bought a lawnmower (just about any type of lawnmower--riding or push, purchased from 1994 to present) is entitled to a class action settlement. I checked the website (www.lawnmowerclass.com) and it is for real. You can get up to $75 for a riding mower and I think it was $35 for a push mower. Just about every brand of mower is included as is the engine manufacturers. No purchase data is needed as everything that you need to join the class action is on the mower, which makes it nice. The claim form that you must submit is on the website and you can file on line or my US mail. Reported by Sam Strite

On May 30th – Kathy and Moe Menk attended the high school graduation of their granddaughter, Sylvia, in El Paso, IL. Pictured are 5 of their 7 grandchildren – Sylvia, Paige, Michael, Ben, and Kyle. Paige and Kyle returned to LA with Meema and Papa and will stay for a few more weeks. The Menks also want to thank everyone for your prayers for their sons, Rich in Iraq and Eric in Afghanistan. They are doing well and should be home in late October or early November. Rich’s baby daughter, Lily, will be arriving sometime in July, but daddy won’t get to meet her until he gets home.

A HOUSE DIVIDED! Jerry and Merlene DuBose attended their only Grandson Ryan’s graduation from High School in Webb City, Mo. They had a great weekend but as you can see from his sweater Ryan is going to attend U of TN!! With both Merlene and Jerry being BIG Alabama Fans that was our only let down. Ryan qualified for the Nat’l Honor Society and has a Honor Diploma. (He took after his Grandmother.)
Ryan is heading to the Ukraine in a few days for a two week mission to teach the Bible in a grammar school. As you can see we are very proud Grandparents.

When Jerry DuBose started to plant 81 knockout roses in his flower beds, he found it was too much of a job for a 65 yr old. Jerry talked to Morgan and Mike, pictured to right (employees of the Golf Course) about his problem. Since their hours had been cut, they said they could use some extra money.
They did about six hours of yard work planting 81 roses, etc. (Don’t tell anyone but they only charged a total of $25 per hour.....$12.50 each.) If you need anything done around your home, they are available after 2:00 pm. They start work at the golf course at 5:00 am. You can call Morgan at 213-3553 or contact: Jerry DuBose at 978-3069 for more information. Merlene & Jerry were very pleased with their work.

I and many others are working with Community Hospice to raise money for patients who don't have medical insurance. Community Hospice is a not for profit agency. In order to have available funds for those with no insurance a fund raiser will be held Oct. 7, 2010. I am asking for any Glen Lakes persons who would volunteer to be a part of the planning committee to call me. The next meeting will be at Community Hospice on Thursday May 27th at 10 am.
I am also looking for those people who have items to donate to auction or raffle off at the event to let me know and I can start gathering things together anytime. Ideas --gift certificates, paintings or hand crafted items, or any new items you wish to give. I am also looking for ideas from residents that may have been involved in fund raisers to help me with ideas that will bring in more money.

We have two anonymous $50 donors who have given funds and specified that flowers be planted beneath the large American Flagpole with these funds. Jerry, Merlene DuBose and Fred Blake, so graciously volunteered to go and pick the Knockout roses and liriope up and plant them this afternoon. If you are going out the entranceway at Clubhouse & County Road 20, take note. These will be a "knockout" addition to our flagpole display and we thank the donors for helping us with this project! Thank You! May this flag ever wave!!!!! Sylvia Womack, Chairperson, Beautification Committee
(Anyone wishing to donate for extra flowers at entranceways contact Sylvia Womack at 955-5294.....................................................Jerry)
