Dear Friends and Neighbors
First, Sandy and I want to wish everyone a very “Happy and Prosperous” New Year. In addition, we want to say, thank you for your support and friendship over the many years that we have been friends and neighbors. Again a great big “Thank You” from both of us!
We want to take this opportunity to express our total support for the proposed and approved plan to construct a “Pedestrian and Bike Path” from our subdivision to the Beach Express. The Beach Express alone has been such a large shot of adrenalin in the arm of development for Foley, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Because of its construction, we are now located on a direct artery connecting vacationers and home buyers to our homes and golf course on their quest to reach the beach. The Beach Express is such a positive amenity. It has created opportunity for years to come and will be enjoyed by our children, grandchildren and future generations.
We support the “Pedestrian and Bike Path” as a subdivision amenity connecting our residents to the Beach Express as a valuable link from our community to the new growth and prosperity in progress at this time at intersection of the Beach Express and Baldwin County 20. Because it will not only benefit us, it will add value to the properties that are adjacent and surrounding Glenlakes. If the properties close to Glenlakes maintain and add value then we will preserve and protect the value of all of our homes. We believe this is the number one concern on all of our minds at this time in our economy.
The construction and use of a pedestrian path is a great way to add, enjoy, and maintain value to our community. The benefits from the use of this amenity will dramatically effect the appreciation and value to all of our homes.
We also want to express our appreciation to the City of Foley for its financial support of the pedestrians’ path and Foley’s investment in the Glenlakes community. “The Forward City” of Foley on Monday night stepped up and voted to fund ($30,000.00) which is 50% of the entire cost for the construction of the path. This says a lot about our city and its commitment to our community and the citizens of Foley. The city also realizes that an investment in our community and in this area will attract growth, prosperity, and more upscale development. We believe this is a win / win situation, good for the city, and good for us!
Our community needs our help to raise the matching funds needed to add to the pledged $7,500, challenge grant, gifts, and other donations already received from our neighbors. Please make your donations payable to the City of Foley. You can take your donation directly to the Finance Office at the City Hall or call: Kathy Menk, Linda Spangrud, Mike Willis, or David Vosloh at 955-2111 for arrangements for someone to pick up your check. They will also provide further information on our progress on reaching our goal.
This is such an important asset and additional amenity for our community. Sandy and I felt led to share our feelings with all of you.
Yours truly,
Tom and Sandy Norwood
